At Fir Tree Primary School, we are proud to offer a warm, welcoming and nurturing Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) environment where every child is encouraged to thrive. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, happy and valued and we work hard to create exciting opportunities that inspire curiosity, confidence and a love of learning from the very start of their school journey.

Our EYFS currently includes Oak Class - Reception. Our wonderful learners will be supported by their teacher, Mrs Grant and their Teaching Assistants, Miss Mills and Miss Walton.

Our dedicated team supports children to build strong foundations for lifelong learning through play, exploration, high quality interactions and meaningful experiences.

For more information about Reception, including some FAQs and answers, please take a look at our Welcome Pack and Welcome Meeting PowerPoint Slides.

Our Curriculum

Our EYFS curriculum is designed to help children become confident, curious, independent learners who are well prepared for their transition into Year 1 and beyond.

You can read our curriculum documents below.

Tapestry

We use Tapestry as a home-school communication tool.

Please click on the links to visit the website or download the app - Tapestry Android App, Tapestry Apple App.

We will share photos, updates and observations on Tapestry so you can see what your child is learning.

It is a two-way tool - please upload your own “wow moments” from home. This could be anything your child is proud of. We love to celebrate your child's successes alongside you!

SEND, Wellbeing and Inclusion

At Fir Tree Primary School, we are proud to be an inclusive setting where every child is encouraged to succeed and flourish.

We believe that good teaching for children with special educational needs / disabilities (SEND) is good teaching for all children. As such, we place a high value on teaching routines, expectations and regulation skills for all children.

We use The Zones of Regulation to help children identify and name a range of emotions in themselves and others. We focus on co-regulating with the hope that children become more able to regulate independently as they grow. For more information about our approach to supporting behaviour and wellbeing, and the zones of regulation, please see the document below.

Where additional needs are identified, we work closely with our SENCo, families and external professionals to provide appropriate support, interventions and personalised learning opportunities.

Safeguarding and Welfare

The safety, happiness and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority.

We have clear safeguarding procedures in place, and all staff are trained to recognise and respond appropriately to any concerns. Children are always supervised and supported within a safe, caring and secure environment where they feel valued, respected and listened to.
